Fixed-wing VTOL UAV for forestry monitoring

A forest monitoring drone that launches from a clearing and covers the whole district

Forest and protected areas are large, remote and short on flat ground. A fixed-wing VTOL UAV takes off vertically from a clearing or a forest road, covers the area on the wing and lands where it started — carrying thermal, zoom or LiDAR sensors.

Why a fixed-wing VTOL UAV for forestry and environmental monitoring

01 / Fit
Launches from a clearing

No runway and no launcher: vertical take-off from unprepared ground, automatic landing on the launch point.

Hours on station

Two to six hours of endurance, depending on configuration, turn a patrol into one flight instead of many.

Sees through the day and night

The dual EO/IR turret switches between daylight zoom and thermal imaging in flight.

Which configuration for which area

02 / Configuration

Three configurations share one airframe. Figures are the published specification; range and endurance follow the payload and battery pack and are confirmed per order.

Monitoring tasks

03 / Missions
Fire season patrol

Thermal search for hotspots over large blocks of forest, launched from the roadside.

Canopy and terrain mapping

LiDAR point clouds and photogrammetry for inventory and terrain models.

Illegal logging and poaching

Quiet stand-off observation with 30× zoom and coordinate handoff to ground teams.

Storm and pest damage

Rapid survey of affected stands to direct crews.

Rivers, coast and wetlands

Long legs over water and terrain with no forward infrastructure.

Search and rescue

Thermal search over forest, water and rubble.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Why use a fixed-wing VTOL UAV for forest monitoring?

Forests are large and have few places to land. A fixed-wing VTOL combines the area coverage of a wing with vertical take-off and landing, so it works from a clearing or a track without a runway or launcher.

What sensors are used for environmental monitoring?

A dual EO/IR turret for day and thermal observation, a 30× zoom camera with laser rangefinder for detail and coordinates, and a LiDAR plus zoom payload for mapping.

Can the drone help detect forest fires?

The thermal channel is used to search for hotspots, including at night and through haze. Detection performance depends on altitude, sensor and conditions and is planned per mission.

How large an area can it cover?

That depends on altitude, sensor and overlap. The aircraft itself flies 2 to 6 hours at a cruise speed of 90 to 120 km/h depending on configuration.
